Diagnostic Automation/Cortez Diagnostics, Inc.\'s HCV Rapid Test - OneStep Anti-HCV -Serum-Whole Blood--Plasma RapiCard Insta Test can be run on serum or whole blood samples.  It is recommended that fresh samples be used on the HCV Rapid Test if possible.  For serum, collect blood into a container without anticoagulant.  Allow the blood to clot and separate the serum from the clot.  Use the serum for the HCV Rapid Test.  If the specimens for the HCV Rapid Test cannot be tested on the day of collection, store the serum specimen in a refrigerator (at 2 to 4 degrees Celsius) for up to three days.  If the HCV Rapid Test cannot be done within three days, serum should be stored in a freezer (at -20 degrees Celsius or colder).  Whole blood specimens cannot be frozen.  Make sure to stir and bring the specimen to room temperature before using the HCV Rapid Test.  Do not freeze and thaw the specimen repeatedly.

A negative result on the HCV Rapid Test is indicated by only one color band on the control C region, and no apparent band on the test (T) region.  The HCV Rapid Test sample is positive when both a pink-colored control C band appears in addition to a distinct pink-colored band in the test (T) region.  The HCV Rapid Test kit can be stored at temperatures between 2 to 30 degrees Celsius in the sealed pouch to the date of expiration.  The HCV Rapid Test kit should be kept away from direct sunlight, moisture, and heat.
