HCG U/S Rapid Test (Cassette) description:

Los Angeles-based Diagnostic Automation/Cortez Diagnostics, Inc. offers a OneStep Serum/Urine Combo RapiCard InstaTest HCG Pregnancy Test Kit. (cassette format). This Pregnancy Test Kit is an immunochromatographic assay designed for qualitative determination of hCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) in serum/plasma or urine specimen. There is an appearance of hCG in both urine and serum soon after conception, and its subsequent rapid rise in concentration during early gestational growth. This Pregnancy Test Kit is used to obtain a visual, qualitative result for the early detection of pregnancy. This pregnancy test kit is for in vitro diagnostic use only.

The pregnancy test immunochromatographic device contains a unique set of dye conjugate and immobilized monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies used to produce a distinctive visual pattern indicating elevated concentration of hCG (20 mIU/ml) in the pregnancy test sample in approximately five minutes. In the pregnancy test kit procedure, the liquid sample is allowed to migrate through the absorbent area. If hCG is present, labeled antibody-dye conjugate binds it, forming an antibody-antigen complex. As the reaction mixture continues to flow along the pregnancy test membrane, the complex binds to the anti-hCG antibody in the (T) zone of the membrane, and produces a pink-rose color band. Unbound conjugate on the pregnancy test binds to the reagents immobilized in the control (C) zone producing a pink-rose color band, demonstrating proper performance of the pregnancy test kit.

To begin the pregnancy test, open the sealed pouch by tearing along the notch. Remove the pregnancy test kit from the pouch and use it as soon as possible. Draw the urine or serum sample using the pipette provided in the pregnancy test kit, and dispense 4 drops on the sample well of the cassette.

Wait for the colored bands to appear on the pregnancy test. Depending on the concentration of hCG in the pregnancy test specimen, positive results may be observed in as soon as 40 seconds. However, to confirm negative results on the pregnancy test, the complete reaction time of 5 minutes is required. It is important that the background is clear before the result is read on the pregnancy test. Do not read results after more than 30 minutes. A negative result occurs on the pregnancy test when only one color band appears on the control region. No apparent band on the pregnancy test region means that no pregnancy has been detected. A positive result is produced when distinct color bands appear on both the control and test regions of the pregnancy test. Presence of both lines on the pregnancy test indicates that the patient is probably pregnant. The color intensities of the pregnancy test bands may vary since different stages of pregnancy have different concentrations of hCG hormone. An invalid pregnancy test shows no visible band at all or no colored band appears on the (C) control region of the pregnancy test. Repeat with a new pregnancy test kit.

If the specimen cannot be tested on the day of collection, store the specimen in a refrigerator or freezer at 2-8C for up to 48 hours prior to performing another pregnancy test. For prolonged storage, specimens may be frozen and stored below -20C. Frozen specimens should be thawed and stirred before conducting another pregnancy test. Do not freeze and thaw the specimen repeatedly.

Along with this Combo Urine/Serum HCG Rapid Test (pregnancy test in cassette format), Diagnostic Automation/Cortez Diagnostics, Inc. offers various pregnancy test kits to fit any customer's needs. Two other combo HCG Test Kits include: Combo Urine/Serum HCG Rapid Test 3.5mm strip, and a Combo Urine/Serum HCG Rapid Test 5mm strip format. Additional pregnancy test kits for clinical diagnosis or pregnancy test at home: Midstream Urine HCG Test Kit and a Urine HCG Test Kit (both in cassette format), a Urine HCG Rapid Test 2.5 mm strip, a Urine HCG Rapid Test 3.5 mm strip, and a Urine HCG Rapid Test 5mm strip.
